Non-Muse Event Extra Credit: Residence Hall Assistance: Quorum!
I attended this non-muse event on Dec. 1st at 8:30pm. This meeting concern about housing at SJSU. Students got the chance to raise their voices and say what they felt about our housing tuition going up. At the meeting people where asking questions such as why our fees were going up and why is there so much to pay. Students where also concerned about fires, like the one that happened about 3 weeks ago in the Joe West building, and what could help prevent from happening again. A lot of the Students questions got answered, but we the students were still confused about tuitions on housing going up. Overall I left the meeting with some sort of positive information.

Extra credit option #3; My learning style!
My learning style has been a very helpful strategy because it has helped me in class and has made me pay attention and also get the point of the material handed out. I have come to realize that I am a visual learner. In order for the material being taught to stay in my head it would have to be shown on the board. For example math, I cannot learn math if someone explained it to me by words, I have to see it written or else I will never get it. Having to write down the assignment helps me and my skills get an idea of what I have to do. My learning habits have been the same since I could remember and I have been successful at learning in that style. I have tried to use other strategies such as logic learning because I like to have a very detailed answer to my question. Before attending SJSU I never asked questions, but now that I am here and it is a difficult level I have made myself frequently ask questions because I like to know if I'm doing it correctly. I have tried audio learning and that has not been successful. What I would like to learn is hands on things because I like to get involved with hands on things such as fixing cars or building things.

Muse Workshops report #3
Attended muse workshop " All you ever wanted to know" on 9/15/09.
In this workshop many questions were asked about the students concerns on their first year in college. The people who set up that workshop consisted of real professors because they wanted to let us, the ones who attended the workshop, know what they thought in person .There was questions being asked such as, what would be the right way to email an instructor or what were the instructors thoughts on late work. Many of the questions asked were mostly on the professors point of view. There where other concerns such as asking for help on peer review and counseling for students with situations. The were other questions that talked about first impression on the professor and how the student should not disrespect the professor. The professors were saying that they like a student who turns in all their homework on time, listens in class, and participates in class. Overall in this workshop I heard what I needed to hear, and also a good impression on the professors.

Non-Muse event #2
I volunteered to go to the non-muse event on tuesday Nov.10 which was, Budget Cuts Town Hall. They were basically explaining to the students that for the years to come they are going to be rough because us students are being limited to our units and other students who are applying for next semester are not going to be able to be accepted. These budget cuts have limited us to do very little and seniors are being forced to graduate because they are not needed here anymore. Also these budget cuts have limited students from wanting to get a class, but they can't because not many classes are being offered.

Lyric Analysis!!!
Who Wants To Live Forever, Queen
In the song, " Who Wants To Live Forever," by Queen states that love can only last for so long and that love should be appreciated while it lasts. Queen puts in great passion in this song because people don't take an advantage of everyday life and people forget about their surroundings. It's sending out a message to others to make everyday like your last day because today isn't guaranteed tomorrow.
Queen tends to be out there a lot more than other rock bands and they write songs about real life goals and conflicts. In there song, "Who Wants to Live Forever," Queen sings about a couple coming to reality and living their lives to the fullest. Queen also explains in that song that "lives have one moment already set aside for them", but they don't know if it is good or not it is just a big surprise and they shouldn't do something that could possibly ruin what they have. Also they explain that living forever isn't for everybody because if you live forever and done everything possible then why still live? Everyday should be a romantic day and a loving attitude towards your partner.
This song has a very deep meaning to it because it implies that lives can only last for so long and then there is nothing left. People should appreciat their days a lot more and should always be happe because who knows when their last day could be.

Talking about Drugs!!
Movies impersonate college very good. Movies do a good job in showing the crowd how frats party and how tailgating is. Coming to college for your first year, you tend to expect to party and drink. You also expect to meet new friends and people who have connections with any drug available.
The most common drug to the college crowd is of course the hard liquor and beer. College people drink at every party and expect someone to get very drunk and start to puke all over the house. During college parties people are going to offer that someone a beer and expect them to drink it, but if they see that they don't then they see that person not drinking the beer as not fitting in with that crowd who gets wasted. Wether you like it or not, beer is going to be handed to you at parties.
Weed has to be smoked by every college kid at least once through out their college career. Weed is everywhere in college wether its in your dorm or at a party, and someone is going to convince a person to take a puff to experiance the relaxation it gives you. Weed has to be the easiest drug to get a hold of at any age and its not that expensive.
The college crowd have it the easiest to consume some sort of drug because someone knows all the connections when trying to get a hold of these drugs and it's available to everyone, you just got to ask and it's there, but remember to watch how much you drink and what you drink.

Muse Workshops #2
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), attended 9/15: This workshop help me realize so many ways to be safe when having intercourses with my partner. The instructor showed us that not just males can wear condoms but also females can, so theres no excuse there in not wearing a condom. STI can be transfered into others by simply rubbing on to other skin who is infected. STI's can also be transmitted oraly. The instructed also explained to us that when having oral sex she recommends us to use a flavored condom, which is only used for oral sex. The instructor explained to us the difference between a virus and an infection, and the difference was that a virus cannot be cured, but a infection or disease can be cured. The intructor stated that women show no symtoms when infected by a STI, but the male does indeed show a symtom because its the same hole they urinate out of. We were also told that if women don't get checked for STI and they do happen to have one, its possible that they can have a miss carriage. The main conclusion the instructor told us was that both partners should get tested befor they start to have sex.

interview a senior!
I interviewed JP Moua who is going to graduate in May 2010. I ask JP if what they experienced college actually was what he thought and his response was yes. JP said that all he thought about going into college was partying and still stay focused in school. JP came into college with an undeclared major. He said that he never took the time to actually think what he really wanted to do with his life, he just knew he wanted to finish college. JP gave me some advie and he told me to not party to much because it does sometimes take over you. So i took into that.
I also intgerviewed james McCabe who is graduating in May 2010. I ask him how their college experience has changed from what he planned and his response was that he tries not to go out a lot and rather stay focused in school. James came to college wanting to graduate in business accounting, and he told me that he has sticked with it through out college and it was very tuff, but worth it. His advise to me was to stick to what my senses tell me and to never second guess myself.

Scholarly Journal Article Summary: Marvin Gaye
Scholarly Journal Article Summary
In the article, “ Trouble Man: The Art and Politics of Marvin Gaye,” by Neal, Mark Anthony, published in 1998, he explains the depressed situations Gaye goes through the 70’s and how one of his songs, “ What’s going on,” reflects to the black protest movement. Marvin Gaye was one of the most romantic Motown singers during his era, which drew peoples attention with his marvelous lyrics. During his career with Motown, he teamed up with Tammi Terrell, which where only put together to make one single hit song, but later on ended up making duets with her until her death came along. After Tammi’s death Gaye went down hill from that because he was so depressed. Following Tammi’s death, Gaye’s brother, Frankie, died in the Vietnam war, which put him even more down. There was a period when Gaye didn’t make a hit for a while. Marvin Gaye came out with a hit, “ what’s going on,” which indicated the changing in the black protest movement. James brown would also join Gaye in a hit that speaks towards the movement. It affected Gaye in a way that his hit, “ what’s going on,” put him on the spotlight talking about his opinions and what he’s seeing as a child in that song. His hit made the society into a diverse one, letting people know that being diverse is the way to be and fighting shouldn’t be the situation.

Non-Muse event #1
Love Fest: Hmm what can I say about this? Well lets just say that it is the wildest thing I have ever been to. Love fest was like being in a porn video, there was naked people from left to right, not giving a damn what others say. Love fest is for people who really like to get down and dirty, oh and have lots of fun. There was lots of music playing and people getting high and drunk. From my perspective, love fest was like being in a whole different world because all I saw was people in weird costumes and just having the time of their life. Love fest, to me, is a place where if you dont care what others say about you then thats your spot.

music memories #2
As I interviewed my dad, Fernando, I knew that he would be the type of youngster that he would be. My dad was the type of person who loved to party and go to dances, when ever he had a chance. He grew up in a very small town in Mexico, which consisted of about 1000 population, which isn't as bad as you think, i know from experience. My dad also grew up in a very poor family and wasn't the most elegant looking in his town, but he always pulled it off( he says).
I asked my dad what his favorite singer of all time was, and his response is Vicente Fernandez, who is probably the most know Mexican singer of all time. My dad said that listening to Vicente Fernandez was like repeating his life. My dad said that Vicente and him had so much in common such as being poor, going through relationships, hollering at girls, and just doing as much as possible while you are young. My dad also liked to listen to Pedro Infante because he sang about really deep stuff and related to my dad. So he liked to listen to his music because it gave him comfort.
Now my dad had, and still does, a wild side to him. He was telling me that he loved to dance and especially with the women. My dad said that he was liked by the women because of his dance moves and his good looks of course. Now dancing music in Mexico isn't the same like how it is here in America. In Mexico there's a type of music that is dancing music to the Mexican population, and it's called Banda music. My dad's favorite banda to dance to were Los Bukis, which do not exist anymore. My dad said that once he heard them play he would get the getter's and would always be the first to dance and would make his friends grab a girl and join along. My dad said that at dances he was never shy to get the party started because all he thought about was having a good time with girls and his friends.
My dad explained to me that when he was younger he was very poor and couldn't afford much. Now concerts back in the day were some what expensive, but to my dad it was too much for him. Concerts were outside of my dad's town and would be a couple of hours away. When there would be a big concert my dad would save up money and go with all his friends, and would all go in the smallest truck possible (I began to laugh when he told me that). Los Bukis would be the only concerts he would go to because he loved them, and because he didnt have much. He said that those concerts where always fun because there would be lots of dancing with the women.
My dad's taste in music hasn't changed much since, but now all he listens to is Vicente Fernandez, which has caught on to me. My dad's type of music compared to mine have nothing in common. We both come from two different countries and have our differences of course. Growing up to what my dad listens to does catch up on you and it just gets catchy.

Muse Workshop #1
Conflict Managment; attended 9/14. This workshop was concerned with conflicts between roommates of situations itself. They said that if you and one of your roommates have a conflict, you should notify the RA asap. If your going to do drugs, like weed or drink alcohol, you should do it outside of campus and dont be dumb doing it on campus and get caught. They said to always notify someone if there's a problem, because if you dont then the situation will get worse and then you will get in an even worse situation.
study tip #3
One thing I like to do when I study is, I like to go in to a quiet room and study my notes in peace with no interruptions. It helps a lot when trying to concentrate on something.

music memories #1
i grew up in a family thats a spanish speaking family. i grew up listening to all sorts of spanish music like ranchera or banda music. the 2 types i just mention are 2 of the popular types of music heard commonly in the mexican culture, and it sounds really weird to others. i always listened to a very famous artist, and still is to this day, vicente fernandez, which is my dads favorite singer, and just fell in love with his music till now. i looked up to my brother a lot and did what he did and always liked listening to the type of music he did. my brother fernando, liked listening to rap, and still does, such as Master P, lil wayne, birdman, manny fresh, and etc. i also liked listening to other types of music on my own time, like when the backstreet and Nsync where in at the time, i know kinda gay, and some rock like greenday and there old stuff. then i went on a time period when the bay areas underground artist blew up and everybody was listening to them such as, keak da sneak, mac dre, E-40, J-diggs, and etc. the bay area music went on for like half my high school year, but then it kind of died, well for me it did. now all i listen to is a whole bunch of rap and rock, like all modern songs. lil wayne is a must listen to now a days because his raps are always so original and no one can do it but him. every once in a while i like to kick it old school and look up song videos that i use to listen to when i was younger, and on when i look up some songs i just laugh at myself and just cannot believe what i listened to.
GOOGLE MYSELF!!
i googled myself and i only found myself on the white pages, facebook and myspace. on the white pages im 1 of 1500 javier rodriguez in the united states and i think thats a very small amount of people with my name. i also found myself on the 2009 varsity football team at my high schools website. the other catagories were kind of hard to find of me, but i did end up finding myself. other than that i didnt find myself anywhere else.
